Now, while I agree with some parts of her Objectivist philosophy sown into the book, I mostly love it for its story and characters. However, the bits of philosophy I was drawn to in the book were pretty eye opening; they were my first introduction to Individualism. The concept of ones purpose in life is to find their own happiness without unwanted interference from friends, family and society. It also changed the way I see women and seemingly callous people (not mutually exclusive, mind you! lol). It's a long book and may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it was the first book that changed me slightly and set me on the path I'm on now.Casey Cannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12309424242467021210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-327519570187665289.post-42131417599626111452011-09-19T11:44:40.155-07:002011-09-19T11:44:40.155-07:00Casey: Hmm, I'd probably have to say Fahrenhei...Casey: Hmm, I'd probably have to say Fahrenheit 451 by the great Ray Bradbury for me. Up until that point I'd mostly read for entertainment purposes only. Mostly junk fiction and cold distant 'classics'. But that book made me really CARE about literature- started a fire in my heart for it if you will :)

How about you?gracelizabeth09https://www.blogger.com/profile/01198800697019453665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-327519570187665289.post-8768292853095440652011-09-19T11:31:54.862-07:002011-09-19T11:31:54.862-07:00Thanks for the comment Rae! In other words, what was the first book that changed you in some not-so-small way?Casey Cannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12309424242467021210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-327519570187665289.post-28009162779100208252011-09-14T15:16:52.815-07:002011-09-14T15:16:52.815-07:00I love these things.
