Currentlay :)

I'm back in the land of the living guys! Sorry for that unannounced hiatus. Being 5 months pregnant and moving your home and increasing your hours at work can get the best of your blogging inspiration, I've found. Thought I'd kick off being back with this "Currently" post that has been circulating through the blogosphere. 

Loving: Feeling like a human again! More energy, less vomiting makes Grace a happy girl!

Reading: Blue Like Jazz as suggested by Mrs. Heather Turpin :) It's incredible so far. So honest and well written.

Watching: All of our old DVDs that we stopped watching after we got Netflix! My Fair Lady, Pride and Prejudice, Bridesmaids, I've missed you! Having no internet since we moved has been good for some things :P

Thinking about: Home decor, always. We are compltely starting over from scratch with this new place so we can redo the decor together as a team :) It's going amazing so far, just slooww. Can you get a loan for furniture? Haha.

Anticipating: Finding out what our little banana sized baby is, girl or boy, this Monday!! :D I can't even tell you how excited we are for this, guys. Legit, over the moon.

Listening to:

Working on: Unpacking, redecorating, maintaining a cleaning schedule this time around, and getting the baby's room ready. So much to do and so little time!

Wishing: I could speed up time and slow it down all at once. We're sososo excited to meet this little baby and finally get to hold it and smooch it all over, but I'm also terrified and want to keep it safe inside my belly forever! haha. Creepy mom alert.

Papa's Day!

Hey friends, how was your weekend?
Ours was pretty swell :) We had a picnic at our favorite park with the whole family on Sunday to celebrate Father's day, and it was a blast. We've been going to that same park for special events ever since I can remember.

And even now, when the swing set is no longer a hulking behemoth, and the picnic tables have more scratches than paint, I still love it. It's scratchy and hot and teaming with insects (I got bit by a spider!) but it's still such a special place. It smells exactly the same, like family outings and BBq's, 4th of July's and birthdays.

It was all around a super day. (Which made for a not-super night of dehydration and throwing up, but that's another story :P) I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

If Father's Day isn't so sweet for you, whether it be because of a death or not being able to be a Papa yourself, I want to remind you today that you are loved by a Father greater than the universe, and your life is in his hands. <3

Cinematic

Well, it happened- our first snow here in Colorado! 

We woke up Saturday morning to a winter white world! I was so excited :D We spent the rest of that day inside- reading books and sipping chai tea and staying cozy warm. Of course, with it being Colorado, the sun came out later that afternoon and melted it all away before I could take outfit pictures in it! 

Today the snow was all gone, but it was definitely still chilly and crisp outside.

As a result of the new layout- these pictures have to be a little small.

I got a chance to break out my new Modcloth dress and my favorite punky looking high laced boots from Target :D I freaking love these things. I also added a little silver bee pin to my belt as a homage to Summer- see you next year :) 

I was surprised to see these gorgeous flowers still a 'bloomin despite the cold! What a lovely juxtaposition :)

And of course, no movie date day would be complete without some smooching under the tree leaves :P

In the right picture, I was talking to some hipster girl that was laughing at us cause we were taking pictures apparently? And the left I was tryin not to giggle when Yeti sat in a thorny rose bush and was freaking out a little :P Tehe. I hope you too had a weekend full of kishes and warmth and crisp fall/winter air. Family, Fish, and Ferrets

It was just a lazy, stay at home and play with adorable ferrets kind of Sunday.

I happened to contract some sort of wicked food posioning Friday night, and spent the rest of the weekend in a slightly catatonic state as a result. Readers who have had weird fish induced food poisoning know my pain. Your spine just shivered a little just thinking about it.

But thankfully, I was feeling mostly better by Sunday afternoon, had some family over, introduced our babies to them, and even snuck some photos of them in once they got drowsy. (the ferrets, not the family lol.)




Fun story: Ilo jump lept tackled and attacked the camera immediatly after taking that photo on the bottom left, tehe.

No matter how bad a situation can be, it's so comforting to know I have a Yeti to hold me in the night and keep me safe, and some little furry babies to keep me smilin'.

Do the Loco-motion!

Happy Friday, readers! 

Honestly, is there anything better than a warm sunny Friday where you know you have the whole weekend ahead of you? Erm, maybe some things, but it's still pretty great :)

The other night, the fabulous Ms. Vikki found this super great spot along the train tracks to take pictures, and be goofy and giggle and generally have a great time. We lugged out my big old Sony DSC-H5 to take them with, since my good little camera is still sick :( Next to the tracks there was also a whole old warehouse covered in the coolest darn graffeti ever.

Despite how I look in that picture, I am not super ripped, haha. I have actually been very scrawny and a little undeveloped my whole life. I've worn the same shoe size since middle school, and didn't lose my first tooth until I was 8. I talk a big game though :)

I believe you're only as tough as the ferocity inside of you.

Charm and wit and looks are great if you are blessed with them, but that deep down strength to get through whatever lies in your path is, to me, real character. Someday, I want to get the words 'True Grit' on my knuckles just as a reminder not to lose that :)

We took some pictures of Vikki too while we were there, and I think they turned out pretty darn great. She's so beautiful its ridiculous :P

Not to mention totally hilarious and my best lady friend :) Look at that hair! It's like a cascading river of gold, haha. Speaking of beautiful people, our blog has officially hit 25 followers! :D I appreciate it so much, it is so darn flattering to know that 25 people in this world care what I have to say.

Not only that, but every last one of you is sweet and kind and some have crazy great blogs of your own! I'm so happy to be a part of your day, all of you. I mean it :)

I wore some random Ross dress, a vintage leather braided belt, Target flats, and a vintage studded leather bag that I bought for 3.99 and totally adore. It was such a nice, comfy outfit for this amazing hot-but-not-too-hot with a side of breeze weather. We leave for Universal in 6 days! I can't guarantee the Florida heat won't kill me, and my hair will be an awful fuzzy mess, but boy am I excited!

For any new readers out there, Vikki is my sister-in-law. She's a little younger than us, but mature and super sweet and cute and creative. She moved into our downstairs about a month or so ago due to some family issues, and its been so nice to have her. A lot of people have been saying that it's a not a great idea to have her live with us since we're newlyweds, etc. but honestly, it's been a breeze. She's clean and nice and it's like having a sleepover every night :)

Yes, I am a nerd that still collects rocks. I really liked this one, heh. I looks like a teeny meteor :)

I realize all of the poses in this picture are almost the same, they were just all too pretty to choose from! :)

Some of these pictures were taken right as a train was going by, which was both scary and awesome :) It seems a  little crazy that locomotion still exists though! I've never been on a train before except those little sight-seeing ones in the mountains. Thats a new item on my to-do list- take a train somewhere!

Orange Creamsicle

As all of you know, yesterday was Fathers Day! My Dad literally taught me almost everything I know. From reading (the words 'biggie sized' on a burger king menu to be exact) to being brave and loyal. He is strong and bright and such a leader. Ever since I can remember I've been crazy proud to have him as a Dad.

He is one of those people who has everything he wants though, so I painted him a picture for the occasion instead :P

We all went to church, lunch, and a movie to celebrate our wonderful Papa :) While we were waiting for everyone to show up for the movie, Yeti, Vikki, and I went to this completely adorable cupcake shop next door.

They had the cutest assortment of cupcakes, and retro decor to top it off?! Yes please :P

It even matched my little blog with a crazy cute, cupcake themed bunting:

And look at those little newspaper flower holders! :D Ah! I wore Charolotte Russe wedges, a glittery gold and pastel gemmed owl necklace and one of my very favorite Target dresses. It is actually a very tasteful salmon color, not electric orange as these photos would lead you to believe :P I was chaneling sort of a Jackie O meets Elsiecake from A Beautiful Mess. I think overall it was a pretty great day. We saw The Green Lantern, which was not as terrible as I expected it to be. Don't get me wrong, I love comic book movies, but animated purple aliens? Not my cup of tea. One movie I am crazy excited for though is the new Harry Potter!! :D Only one more month!! We are truly geeking out.

I hope you all had a very sweet Father's Day weekend as well. I know for a lot of us, that day can be a sad reminder of what you've lost. I hope instead, you were reminded of how loved you are by the people that you do have, and as always I hope you have a beautiful day :)

Painted Skies

Oh geeze, today has been magnificent. To start, I woke up before everyone else and crept out to our gorgeous little mountain spot. It has the most amazing view of this huge rocky valley in the middle of the city. Also, it's where Calvin proposed so it's extra special! I sat still for the longest time just breathing in the morning and watching the sun change the sky colors, like spilled paint seeping into carpet. It was gorgeous and quiet and still. I thought a lot about a lot, but mostly I thought, "This is so freaking lovely I can't find words." Then I came home and we got ready and left to get my new *drumrolllllllll*

Progression of crazy pain.

Yaaayyy! :) I finally got the nautical matryoshka tattoo I blogged about a little while back. To be honest, it was really freaking painful. Which is why there are no pictures of my face here, because I was mostly doing this:   D:

It sucked fiercely, but it was all very worth it in the end! One step closer to my sleeve :)

Afterwards, we got lunch at Jason's Deli, whose BLT's make me weak in the knees. I'm a big fan of bacon, just gonna admit that now, heh. Then we hung out at home a little while, until Vikki remembered about an open mic night downtown and we decided to go listen.

While we were there, we found this perfect little alleyway for picture taking. My splendid sister-in-law took the photos. and as it turns out, she's freaking amazing at it, so you'll be seeing lots of her handywork and this alley to come! :)

I'm wearing a thrifted floral skirt which was actually the bottom to a terrible matching suit, paired with a nude colored tee from Target, thrifted white floral watch, black studded belt and bag from Charolotte Russe, and I believe Target flats as well.

We hung out inside for a while, sipped drinks, played some silly games, and listened to some people play whose band name I completely don't remember, oops! I got a caramel jiva-cino to sip, and let me tell you, it was delicious! If you live in the Old Colorado City area, definitely check out Jives. It was a discovery by Vikki, and we love it there now :) There is so much to adore about summer these days. It's filled with cool night breezes and fresh morning grey. A bright little home and the sweetest company. I cannot wait for every single day of this summer. I almost miss it already. I'm a big melancholy sap like that.

Mountain Peaks and Antiques

We're back! Our long Memorial/ B-day weekend was full to the brim with amazing views, family, and my favorite: antiques! This is going to be a pic-heavy post because there was just so much to see!

On Friday night, we drove up to Buena Vista, a little mountain town slightly reminiscent of horror movie mountain towns where they skin and eat people, and got some rest. Saturday morning, we got breakfast at the Rooster's Crow and had some pretty intense creamer stacking sessions:

Afterwards, we drove even further into the mountains to a little mining town called Leadville. My family had visited here before, roughly 5 years ago, and even then I was crazy about antiques. They have this huge, two story antique mall just literally packed full of all things old and interesting. We never made it to the second floor five years ago, which has tortured me with curiosity ever since :P We finally got to see it! :D

I had such a hard time trying to look at everything in the midst of the madness! Looking back at pictures, there are tons of things I wish I had bought or at least looked at. I can't wait for the next trip! I went looking specifically for owls because they have been one of the long standing collections and loves of mine. And oh boy, did I find them. :)

Remember that song Ariel from the Little Mermaid sings on the beach when she gets her voice back?
I can hear it now.

And a wide selection of hats that fit no human sized head I've ever seen:

I had so much fun at the antique mall, and cannot wait to go back soon! I can't say the same for everyone else though, heh. They don't share my affinity for old dusty stuff :P But hey, it was for my birthday!

Later on that evening, after shopping at some more boutiques, etc, we went to see a movie at the world's sketchiest theater. It was actually pretty fun. Even though it was a little run down and tiny, it was owned by some really nice people and the over all atmospere was super cool. It's nice to see people trying to pursue and pervey awesome places and bring their community together.

We drove back Sunday afternoon. The driving was my least favorite part. Tiny winding mountain roads make me a hundred kinds of nauseous. They give me that same panic I feel on a swing set or enclosed space. Over all though, I had a freaking amazing weekend. I'll have another post soon showing some of the antiques I ended up with. I also have pics from my Birthday picnic, and I'm working on a Home post as well, detailing some of my favorite places in our little abode. Thank you everyone who made my weekend great!
