Currentlay :)

I'm back in the land of the living guys! Sorry for that unannounced hiatus. Being 5 months pregnant and moving your home and increasing your hours at work can get the best of your blogging inspiration, I've found. Thought I'd kick off being back with this "Currently" post that has been circulating through the blogosphere.

Loving: Feeling like a human again! More energy, less vomiting makes Grace a happy girl!

Reading: Blue Like Jazz as suggested by Mrs. Heather Turpin :) It's incredible so far. So honest and well written.

Watching: All of our old DVDs that we stopped watching after we got Netflix! My Fair Lady, Pride and Prejudice, Bridesmaids, I've missed you! Having no internet since we moved has been good for some things :P

Thinking about: Home decor, always. We are compltely starting over from scratch with this new place so we can redo the decor together as a team :) It's going amazing so far, just slooww. Can you get a loan for furniture? Haha.

Anticipating: Finding out what our little banana sized baby is, girl or boy, this Monday!! :D I can't even tell you how excited we are for this, guys. Legit, over the moon.

Listening to:

Working on: Unpacking, redecorating, maintaining a cleaning schedule this time around, and getting the baby's room ready. So much to do and so little time!

Wishing: I could speed up time and slow it down all at once. We're sososo excited to meet this little baby and finally get to hold it and smooch it all over, but I'm also terrified and want to keep it safe inside my belly forever! haha. Creepy mom alert.
What are you currently doing?

I hope you've all been splendid :)

All the best,
Grace Elizabeth

Fire

Hey guys! Just a quick update- I'm sure most of you have heard about all the fires going on in our pretty little state of CO so I wanted to let you know we're doing okay! The evacuations are slowly getting closer to where we are, but no matter what we'll be safe. If you're a prayin guy or gal, please do so for everyone who has lost their homes already. It's incredibly tragic to lose your belongings, but my prayer is that they'll be united in love and well taken care of by the rest of the community in their time of need. Thankfully no one has lost their lives yet, I just pray everyone is safe and evacuates when they're told to, and these brave awesome firemen and women can hang tough and keep fighting for us. We're so so thankful.

If you haven't heard about the fire, you can read about it here.

All the best,
Grace Elizabeth.

Awkward Stage :P

Hey lovelies, how ya been?
I've been feeling mostly terrible the past few days, with morning sickness and a crazy sore throat knocking at my door, but I'm hanging in there! All worth it for our little smooshy human :))

Since I've been under the weather lately, I haven't had a whole lot of creativity going and as such I only have a couple photos to share: an updated pic of yours truly, and one of our prune! :P

I'm attempting to grow my hair out some again, probably to my shoulders and keep it there. It's in an awkward mullety stage, which matches my awkward slightly chubby baby bump that is happening haha XD Well, check you later- have a great day! Say a little prayer for us <3

All the best,
Grace Elizabeth
(and Prune!)

Hey there

lovely readers, lets catch up :)

This past week has been a great one. Firstly, we finally got our bedroom (mostly) finished. It's been this same general setup for a while now, but we just put the finishing touches on everything. After Calvin and I got married we never really made any changes to the decor until now. So we mooshed all of our likes together, and come up with this. We're pretty pleased :) (better quality photos to come later heh)

The bottom left picture was from Easter. I love that dress :P The bottom right is of some sparkly star hair pins I made, inspired by the lovely Elsie :P

Last Saturday, my loverly SIL, Vikki, stayed over to do some prooomm shoping. We woke early that morning to some tasty coffee and has an awesome hike around Garden of the Gods (and then nearly died of exhaustion lol).

So pretty :)

Of course other things happened; sweet nights, dates, arguments, rainstorms..but this is all I got photos of heh. How was your week? I hope it was a good one, or at least, an interesting one :)

All the best,
Grace Elizabeth.

20.3.12

Oh hey there, blog.

I feel like super poop for taking so long to post. And I feel like poop for complaining about it too, so I'll just leave it at that.

On to happier things :) :

1. I discovered, spent an arm and a leg on, and read entirely this book: Why We Broke Up written by Daniel Handler a.k.a. Lemony Snicket :P and Illustrated by Maira Kalman. It's wonderful. It encompassed so much of my feelings at the high school age, has beautiful illustrations every chapter, and is written in the same style as my brain thinks. Totally wonderful.

2. We played with the ferrets for a while and tuckered them out. Came back a while later and found them snuggling in the hammock :DD *eternal ferret adoration*

3. Found the tastiest snack ever ever.

4. We got Calvin's karate room set up downstairs! It's right next to my beautiful spare bedroom/craft room thing so we can be close while still doin our own thing sometimes. Plus I find it really fun to play in too :P

5. I just started having to do teeny tiny little pigtails in my hair because it's growing out into a baby mullet XD And yes, I'm gonna grow it a little while again. Probably keep it around shoulder length this time. I like to mix it up :)

6. Made the awesomest soup ever. We really enjoy soup around here :P This one is organic potato, green beans, and rotisserie chicken with cheesy bread. So yummy!

7. Broke in the new karate room with a little his and her's boxing match on Saturday :D

8. My lovely Momma with a picture I drew of my lovely Momma! <3

9. We looked at this house for sale last weekend as well! Like, set up a time with a realtor, discussed lending options legitly looked at it. Adult status yo. And isn't she dreamy?? The scallops are to die for! *fingers crossed*

So, that was my week. How was yours lovely people? Missed ya'll!

All the best,
Grace Elizabeth.

Peculiar

Hey everyone! How was your week? Mine was a little on the blah side because I came down with a weird flu thing for a few days,
which also happened to coincide with a big snow storm:

and just the standard work and school stresses, but it had some lovely moments for sure :)) One of them being the discovery of this amazing book!

"A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. And a strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children."

Don't let the 'Young Adult' genre fool you, it is scary and exciting and like...magical? Haha XD I feel like such a nerd but I love getting swept up in the magic of fantasy books. I cannot wait for the Spring of 2013 for the sequel to come out! Read more about it here!

On top of that, we've been having some completely lovely weather, and ever got a chance to sit out sit and soak up some sun (while Calvin was silly and played around practicing ninja moves XD)

Bare legs :D So happy! And then we (of course) saw the Lorax :D

Also found this super cool massive bronze sculpture at church that I kind of love, and I baked some chocolate bottomed macaroons using this recipe by Lesley Jean and adding chocolate! :D So tasty!

How about your week? I hope it was lovely and lacking in flu heh.

All the best,
Grace Elizabeth.

Same Old

Hey guys :) I haven't posted in a few days because not much has changed around here!
I'm still obsessing over Wuthering Heights:

I may have even bought an audiobook. Oh boy -____-

This is my favorite quote from it which I may need to get tattooed very soon XD:

Still Loving my Keurig and hanging out in my spare room:

But I did finally get some new boots! Seen in this outfit from yesterday:

And a new insane cute backpack for school (cause I'm five):

It's from Target by the way. You know you want one :P
And just in time too! It snowed like, a few feet here haha. But it's pretty so that's okay :) I hope everyone has been well. And happy weekend!

All the best,
Grace Elizabeth.

Living In Earnest

Phone cover art by the amazing and talented Teagan White.
So, I don't have much to say today so I thought I'd just give ya a little updated photo of my quickly growing out pixie cut (yes i'll get it trimmed soon!) and tell everybody what we've been up to:

Recently, I've been super obsessed with the amazing writing on Thought Catalog :a place for relevant and relatable non-fiction and thought. They featured a ton of super talented writers sharing their thoughts and stories about every subject you can imagine, and most all of them leave my face looking like this :O It's been a long time since I got a chance to read really beautiful writing from people in our age bracket. I can't recommend it enough, go check it out :) (This is one of my favorite posts!)

After reading Sarah O'Holla at Desirous Of Everything's various blog posts about the show Downton Abbey, I finally got around to looking it up on Netflix and WATCHING THE ENTIRE FIRST SEASON. Unfortunately its only 7 episodes right now, but holy wow I cannot wait for next season to come out. It's extremely interesting, has engaging characters, plot twists, historical events, and of course- drama! It keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat the whole time. I quickly fell in love with the characters and I can't wait to see what happens next! Be sure to check out the show if you have Netflix or PBS, and Sarah's blog where she was even featured in The New York Times for her Downton Abbey Season 2 Premier viewing party! :D

Once I was finished watching the whole season of Downton Abbey, Netflix recommended other PBS Masterpiece Classics, one of which I watched last night in it's entirety, Wuthering Heights. I cannot even explain to you how completely AMAZING and moving this two part series was!! I was a huge girl and cried multiples times. This adaptation of Emily Brontë 's scandalous novel does not disappoint, it is filled to the brim with romance, suspense, longing, drama, scandal, and love. It was beyond words fantastic. If you love the 1800's and forbidden love dramas, oh man -____- watch this. I also saw a listing for PBS Masterpiece Classics Sense and Sensibility so I'll give you a review of it as soon as I can! :D

In that same general historical love story token, I recently got a copy of Through A Glass Darkly for 2$ from an amazing new little used book store a block from my house! I'm only a little ways in, but the back blurb sounds amazing! "As opulent and passionate as the 18th century it celebrates.Through a glass darkly kill sweep you away to the splendors of a lost era. Like gone with the wind, it is rich with characters so vivid -- from aristocrats to scoundrels--they create their own immortality. Here is the story of a great family ruled by a dowager of extraordinary power: of a young woman seeking low in a world of English luxury and French intrigue" and of a man haunted by a secret that could turn all their dreams to ashes..." Uhm, yes! I can't wait :D

Also, I've been wanting to tell ya'll about and ammaazzzing organic food delivery service we've been using lately, Door-To-Door Organics. They deliver fresh organic produce straight to your door in varying sizes and prices weekly or bi-weekly and basically just saves you a ton of hassle! We love it. It's been a blast! We do the Bitty Box, so for only 25$ a week, we get enough fresh organic fruit and veggies to last us well into the next week.

They also have a shop section where you can buy any other organic food you want basically. We usually get the free range chicken broth, and I can't resist their amazing fresh bakes breads. MMM. We use the broth to make varying veggie soup depending on which veggies we get. It usually consists of onions, carrots, celery and potatoes :)) So yummy!

So if you live in or around the Colorado Springs area, be sure to check them out! If not, just Google produce home delivery, and I'm sure you can find someone who delivers to you! I've been working on becoming better at lady things like cooking and cleaning, haha >__< so I'm pretty proud of that soup. I also scored a new food processor and Kitchenaide mixer over Christmas so I'm really moving on up in my Suzy-Homemaker status :P

(By the way, as I'm sure some will speculate, Door-To-Door Organics in no way sponsored this post or blog, I just really dig their service and felt like sharing :P If you're interested, all members get 5 invites a month they can send out, giving the person who receives it 50% off their first order. I'd love to share if you're interested :)

And just in case you're short on your cute quota today, here is our little sleepy ferret Milo getting a bath :D
g'awww.

So what have you all been up to? I'd love to know :D

All the best,
Grace Elizabeth.

28.12.11

So, Hey

I'm officially back from the longest blog absence ever. If you're a blogger, you know that getting busy and not being able to blog for a while is one of those things that the longer you wait the more horrible it feels and the harder it is to do it again haha. Like an awkward silence. So, whoa. Let me catch you up:

On December 14th, the Yeti and I celebrated our ONE YEAR anniversary!!

We got our same room at the historic Cliffhouse at Pikes Peak that we had one year ago after our wedding which was beautiful as always :) Then, that evening we got a sweet little dinner and went to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra which was a little strange but very pretty (but of course my iPhone camera wouldn't work for the entire show). Then, the next day we got delish breakfast and walked around downtown, did some sightseeing and my favorite- shopping :D We also played around in the penny arcade which is always amusing :)

Once we got back from fairy-tale romantic land, we had to go back to work and real life for a while, but then Christmas came around! :D Which is my absolute favorite time of anything ever. I spent the days leading up to it working my butt off on handmade gifts which was, in hindsight, not the greatest idea :P I thought it would save us some money and be tons more personal, but I swear, I spent like 30 hours total getting all of those gifts together! All in all I think they came out pretty neat :)

They each had hand painted teacups made into scented candles, handmade zenia cabochon earrings, little vials of 'Christmas wishes', lollipops from here and soaps from here all bundled in paper and tinsel in a little brown hatbox and baker's twine. That doesn't sound like a lot, but it was :P

Then it was finally Christmas! :D We celebrated at home, then Calvin's family, then my family- big day! :D

And we were wiped out by the end of it! :P I hope you all had beautiful Christmases full of your own happy moments and memories. I hope your hearts are filled and full of brightness to get us through this next year <3 And as always, have a beautiful day.

All the best,
Grace Elizabeth.

Oh My Gosh

I feel freaking terrible about not blogging in so long!
We're trying to get the downstairs bedroom renovated into a craft/clothes area for me on top of the portraits I'm working on and a crazy week at work= crapping blogging by Grace.

I'm so dang sorry guys!
I will be back as soon as I can :D

I hope you guys are having an amazing week.
Let me know how you've been?

All the best,
Grace Elizabeth.
