More blog layout edits are on their way! I'm been working suuuuuuper hard this time around- I hope everyone likes it! The page may look funny for a few hours here while I get everything up, be patient :)
Here's an adorable picture for your face to look at while you wait heh.

Fickle Follicles

The other day, I attempted to dye my hair a lovely shade of red to match the changing leaves and maybe a million other bloggers hair heh but this is what happened instead:

Red roots, black everything else.
*le sigh*
Oh well, thats what I get for being a copy-cat I guess :P

Have a beautiful day.

Asthma Attack

The inspiration for my all time favorite word came from a vignette I read a couple of years ago. I actually did a vlog about it on my old youtube channel, but since I can't exactly watch 30 youtube videos here at work to determine which it was, I'll just type it in.

This is one of the first pieces I remember reading that gave me that ache shiver in my bones. I want to be a writer SO badly, and reading things like this reinforce that desire so much it hurts a little.

ASTHMA ATTACK by Etgar Keret

When you have an asthma attack, you can’t breathe. When you can’t breathe, you can hardly talk. To make a sentence all you get is the air in your lungs. Which isn’t much. Three to six words, if that. You learn the value of words. You rummage through the jumble in your head. Choose the crucial ones—those cost you too. Let healthy people toss out whatever comes to mind, the way you throw out the garbage. When an asthmatic says “I love you,” and when an asthmatic says “I love you madly,” there’s a difference. The difference of a word. A word’s a lot. It could be stop, or inhaler. It could even be ambulance.

--------------

*shiver*

Ah! So good it's ridiculous D: Anyway, as a result, for years my favorite word has been:

This word is a reminder to me to live passionately. To pursue all things- madly.
It is one of my strongest beliefs that if what you are living for does not make your bones shiver and ache, then it's not worth your time.

One that note, readers, have a beautiful day.

Family, Fish, and Ferrets

It was just a lazy, stay at home and play with adorable ferrets kind of Sunday.

I happened to contract some sort of wicked food posioning Friday night, and spent the rest of the weekend in a slightly catatonic state as a result. Readers who have had weird fish induced food poisoning know my pain. Your spine just shivered a little just thinking about it.

But thankfully, I was feeling mostly better by Sunday afternoon, had some family over, introduced our babies to them, and even snuck some photos of them in once they got drowsy. (the ferrets, not the family lol.)

Fun story: Ilo jump lept tackled and attacked the camera immediatly after taking that photo on the bottom left, tehe.

Aw, my boys!
^__^
No matter how bad a situation can be, it's so comforting to know I have a Yeti to hold me in the night and keep me safe, and some little furry babies to keep me smilin'.

I wish you all the best-

(P.S. I realize there has been an over abundance of ferret related posts lately-
what can I say? They're important little guys to us :) But I have some outfit posts planned and on their way, promise.)

Bento Boredom

Who ever said eating healthy wasn't fun? ;)
My little 'bento-esque' lunch includes, a hummus, baby green, turkey and cheese sandwich on whole grain wheat thins, cucumbers, celery and baby carrots for hummus dipping, and a huuugge childhood favorite- rhubarb! :D
It has been a slow, slow, mocassin slippers and funny veggie face kind of day at work today.
Anyone have a delorean I could borrow? -__-

30 Day Drawing Challenge Day 5

This is my interpretation of Liesel Meminger from The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak.
A.K.A The best book ever written ^__^
Seriously though, it is hands down one of the most beautiful, moving, inspiring books I've ever read.

"It’s just a small story really, about among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. . . . "

And Have a Beautiful Day.

To my dear Momma

on your Birthday,
I couldn't be more proud and lucky to have you as a friend, Momma, and teacher.
I genuinely think my Mom is one of the most beautiful ladies alive!
I am SO happy to share my genes with her, and as I'm getting older, to see so much of her manifest itself in me.

Thanks for everything you've done and continue to do.
I hope you have a beautiful Birthday <3

To my readers- I hope you have a beautiful day,
and tell your Momma you love her.
We don't have these amazing women in our lives forever,
don't take this time for granted.

Something Teeny

Hey everyone!
Sorry the posting has been a little inconsistent on
here lately, I've been one busy bee!
I promise to get back into the swing of things just as soon as I can :)

Speaking of busy, I just now got the giveaway winner's treasure jar packed up and sent!
Sorry for the delay Courtney, but I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together! And I'd love if you let me know what you think :)
I've also been considering making up more jars-so if you were really super interested in the giveaway and didn't win, you could still purchase one from my Etsy. What do you guys think, is there any interest there?

So, because I've had no time at all to take pictures for your viewing pleasure heh, I wanted to do a little STAM post:

I have ridiculously bent pinky fingers. Fun fact, hm?
These babies incited a whole lot of jealousy in elementary school ;)

I'll be back soon with real photos! In the mean time,
have a beautiful day!

30 Day Drawing Challenge Day Three

Is it sad my favorite place is bed? Haha, probably.
But it was a tie between here and the bookstore, and since I have a view of
my big beautiful bookshelf from my bed, its like a combination of both :)
Plus, it's is where me and the Yeti spend the most time together. We slightly live off
this bed heh. It's slowly become our living room and dining room, as well as a place to cuddle and dream. It's served us well :)

I hope you have a beautiful day, readers.
And if not, I hope you have a nice bed and boy to come home to :)

do you have any other questions you'd like to ask?
I'd love to do a Q & A post if you do! Feel free to comment asking anything you'd like to know and I'll try my best to answer! :)

Our Babies!

This was the surprise birthday present for my Yeti that I blogged about earlier :D

Pardon the blurry pictures- they're so hard to get to stay still!

Calvin has loved ferrets for yeeaarrs now and always told me so,
so last Wednesday, a day before his birthday, I surprised him with two! :P The top little guy is Ilo, and the bottom is Milo (or Little Bear) heh. Their names were from an adorable video game we played a while back about two little cube people who were best friends :) The surprise was largly in part of my Momma! Who drove the boys from the pet store to home while we were at work (even when Ilo chewed out of his box! haha.)

I've always thought ferrets were a little freaky with their weird long bodies, but after visiting a few pet stores and getting to play around with them, I realized they're super sweet and playful, even if they are stinky :P
Though we've only had them for a week now, they've already got a sharp little clawed hold on our hearts :)

Have a Beautiful Day!

Did you really need to ask? :P
Have a beautiful day

30 Day Drawing Challenge

I stumbled across this 30 Day Drawing Challenge on The Owl's Den blog
and thought it looked like a neat idea :D
I made up a new list to match the blog a little better (pardon the dino :P) and should be posting a new entry every few days!

Today's entry was "Yourself", so here it is!

Haha :D
On a side note, yes, my initials are G.E.M
which I think is pretty swell! Calvin calls me his little gem
^____^

Have a beautiful day, and feel free to
participate in this challenge with me if you have time!

11.9.11

It may be

because I've gotten little sleep and lots of caffeine, or maybe the twenty million old Adele songs I've been listening to while I wait for my Yeti to finish work, but I just wanted to tell you guys; I think you're truly all beautiful. The fact that there are so many kind, wonderful, intelligent, creative, crafty, soulful people and bloggers, all begging to share their ideas and thoughts with us makes my heart swell. It gives me so much hope for this age. I'm so proud of this blogging community, and this little home we've made here. I can't wait for it to continue to grow and to see what we can do when we work together :)
Have a gorgeous Monday, readers. I know I will <3

YATVF

To my wonderful husband on your birthday,

"You is kind, you is smart,
you is important."

I can't put into words just how much your life has changed my life, or just how sure I am that we'll be together until the end of time and beyond.

I hope you know today and every day how entirely you are loved.

Yeti and the Vamp Forever <3
(or in this case, little owl and the ferret, tehe)

I'll post pics of his surprise present soon!
Have a beautiful day, readers.

You Found Me

Hello everyone! I've just been floored at all of the giveaway entries so far, keep 'em coming in! :D The giveaway ends tonight!

Also, welcome new readers and followers! If you've come here from The Dainty Squid-- isn't Kaylah freaking beautiful?! :D I'm so happy to be a sponsor of hers this month!

I got a little bit of creative writing done this week that I wanted to share with you as well as some instagram pictures from this past lovely three day weekend :)

----
It was in the yellow glow dark that you found me.
The dark that keeps all but your eye whites shadowed. All but the brow crease side smirk was swallowed in the monster belly of dark, and you found me there.

Like a cat owner who finds his beloved feline in a dark alley long after dusk. That ferral moment where you're calling to it and it's looking at you like you've never met and it's wild cat ancestors are staring at you through those glowing yellows with all of their age and ferocity.

"I found you.",
you said.

And that yellow glow kept glowing and the eye whites shining and my brow creased and your mouth smirked in the beast belly shadow.

----
The exact moment that I realized we'd make it is when you saw the console and dash and cup holders of my car covered in grey sticky chewed bubble gum. Sickly sweet and red cheeked. You said it didn't bother you and you chuckled and got in with your lanky legs in your too tight jeans and whipped your beautiful hair fringe
and I honestly didn't stand a chance.

Sure, I hate that you listen to Notorious B.I.G on loud while I'm sleeping, and maybe sometimes your stories make no sense to me, but you told me to give you a chance too see how much you could love me, and it's been sticky sweet ever since.

----

Soon, we'll need glasses. Our teeth with rot and break and decompose. Our skin will melt off of our very bones and our shiny clean youth will be all but unrecognizable.
So I'll write down our memories on square sheets of paper and fold them into cranes and boats, and sail them away. I'll pray they'll come back to us when we need them,
and that the hard ones find a rough patch of sea or breeze and sail away entirely.

----

I hope you have a beautiful day readers,
worthy of  remembering.
